History…
In 1999, Jean-Philippe LERAT established a personal consulting business in the field of Systems Engineering. The focus was to train engineers and provide services to companies. His activity also included reselling Vitech’s CORE modeling tool.
As a consultant, Jean-Philippe LERAT trained thousands (yes, thousands!) of engineers in various industries (Defense, Automotive, Biomedical, Avionics…) in various countries (50% France – 40% Europe (incl. Turkey & Israel) – 10% USA).
Early on, the idea to link the system-level architectural data and the implementation models was born – the architectural information was being expressed using SysML or CORE models, however the software people prefer to use UML models. That is where the idea of “Model Transformation” came in.
That technology, developed by Thomas CAPELLE (associate & now President of Sodius Corp, USA), was selected by I-Logix to link Statemate® and Rhapsody®. That first contract initiated a cooperation which is still fruitful to this day.
The personal activity of Jean-Philippe LERAT was turned into a company in 2002, to facilitate its expansion.
In the following years, Sodius created a number of products, all in the field of Systems Engineering, from specialized modeling tools to high-performance data accessors. We are now considered as a reference company in design tool interoperability.
In 2012, Sodius is present in Europe and USA, to serve its customers best.
Value chain…
Since we are in business since a while, we have a fairly good knowledge of our skills in operation.
Our business is segmented in three parts: Interoperability, Application Frameworks and Outsourcing support.
- Interoperability is composed of a number of high-performance products dedicated to programmers to create software for engineers. Eclipse/EMF coders can purchase DOORS accessors to read/write DOORS models from Eclipse applications, as well as other accessors for common COTS tools.
- Applicative Framework is devoted to provide ready-to-use interoperability solutions for integrators or end-users. The solutions can be either specifically designed for a customer or maybe acquired as a COTS tool. We provide hard-to-find convertors between different modeling standards, such as from DoDAF to NAF.
- Outsourcing support addresses the need for integrators and corporations to have a long-term relationship. As the design tool environment is constantly changing, and often without much notice, Sodius can devote a term over a long period and ensure the workload is smoothed out across time for a cost-effective and responsive service.
Powerful products and frameworks…
Sodius’ main product is MDWorkbench, upon which all of its other solutions are built, including:
- the DXL Editor dedicated to DXL developers
- MDAccess and its accessors for pre-defined software packages
- the MDConnect range of products, among which is MDConnect for DOORS providing full access to DOORS objects
Extended services…
Sodius experts can deliver “getting started” and advanced training, consulting, as well as specific developments for model-driven engineering requirements.
